Lucio Peruggini claims the Italian GT Hill Climb title with Avon Tyres
MELKSHAM, UK, OCTOBER 11, 2019 – Lucio Peruggini has secured the Italian GT Hill Climb title on Avon tyres, extending his winning run in the championship to four successive seasons.
Peruggini, after claiming three titles with Ferrari from 2016-2018, added another in 2019 driving his Lamborghini Huracan, which was equipped with Avon tyres. Over the course of the season, he won eight hill climb events and set several new course records in the process. Peruggini’s latest title was his sixth in just four campaigns, the Italian having also been crowned FIA Hill Climb Masters champion in 2016 and 2018.
For the 2019 season, Avon launched its most comprehensive range of hill climb products to date, including new sizes, compounds and constructions. Available in 90 unique sizes in both crossply and radial constructions, the range is thermally and chemically optimised for hill climb applications, offering superior launch off the line and maximising overall performance.
Lucio Peruggini, 2019 Italian GT Hill Climb champion, said, “It was a beautiful season. We made progress at every event, working with two leading organisations in Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Avon Tyres, which provided us with tyres that are consistently top quality. This gives us a great base for 2020.”
Paul Coates, General Manager, Avon Tyres Motorsport, said, “Once again I’m delighted to see the results of all the hard work that has gone into the development of the European Hill Climb ranges. Lucio’s feedback has helped us develop GT products to a similar level as the Prototype ranges that contributed to securing the European Championship. Our development through 2019 will ensure that our 2020 range is the best it can be.”
