Avon Tyres supplies Rodin Cars with radial slick tyres for FZED single-seater

MELKSHAM, UK, MAY 11, 2020 – Rodin Cars has enlisted Avon Tyres to supply ultra-high performance radial slick tyres for its new FZED single-seater, which is on sale for £500,000.

Avon and Rodin Cars have been working together since 2016, when Rodin Cars founder David Dicker outlined his plans for the FZED. Over the past four years, extensive development and testing has been carried out at Rodin Cars’ 550-hectare headquarters in North Canterbury on New Zealand’s South Island – which comprises three custom-built test-tracks and high-performance engineering and production facilities.

Now available to test drive in New Zealand and purchase, the FZED is powered by a Cosworth GPV8 engine, which delivers 675bhp and 490Nm of torque. Weighing in at just 609kg, the car’s ultra-lightweight, carbon fibre composite construction allows it to accelerate from 0-62mph (100kmh) in just 2.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 186mph (300kph). Helping to keep the FZED planted to the track is a set of Avon radial slick tyres – 270/660R13 on the front and 350/660R13 on the rear.
