Cobra Chrome Tyre Recall
18 November 2019
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. has initiated a voluntary recall relating to motor vehicle safety in certain Avon motorcycle tires, identified as follows:
DOT Tire Identification Code
1418 -- 2119
The tires were manufactured between 8 April 2018 and 1 June 2019.
In order to determine if your tire is subject to the recall (and therefore, if you are eligible for a free replacement), you will need to locate the DOT Tire Identification Code which is located on the sidewall of your tire.
The following illustration shows how the DOT information appears on a sample tire. The affected DOT serial numbers are detailed in the above table (beginning with AT6D28 ---- and ending with a four digit date code (2-digit week and 2-digit year) between 1418 and 2119 inclusive, in this example 1019).
The affected tires may develop an in-service unsatisfactory ride condition or in certain cases, motorcycle steering or ride may be impacted. If undetected affected tires may develop an in-service innerliner degradation ultimately resulting in an increased potential of tire failure that could lead to the rapid loss of inflation pressure, motorcycle control, and increase the risk of a crash.
Driving at high speeds should be avoided until the tires have been inspected and replaced if they fall within the DOT tire identification codes shown above.
Please check your tire. This check should not take long to complete. If you believe you have an affected tire, please immediately contact the dealer from which you purchased your tires or Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd.'s customer care at email@example.com to arrange an inspection and a replacement of any affected tires free of charge.
If you have already replaced an affected tire, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement. For more information, please contact Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. at firstname.lastname@example.org.
