Established in 1902, Triumph Motorcycles celebrated 110 years of motorcycle manufacture in 2012. For more than two decades, Triumph has been based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, and has produced iconic bikes that perfectly blend authentic design, character, charisma and performance.
These brand values and heritage are aligned between both brands and are considered when we design our tyres. This is why Avon Tyres’ acclaimed Cobra tyres have been selected as the original equipment (OE) fitment for an array of bikes launched by Triumph Motorcycles, since 2014.
This includes a bespoke version of Avon’s Cobra tyre being specially designed for OE fit on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber.
Triumph then unveiled two new models in 2017, the Triumph Speedmaster and Triumph Bobber Black – both shod with the all-new MT90B16 & 150/80R16 Cobra front and rear tyres straight from the Triumph production line. Building around 67,000 bikes per year, Triumph is the largest British motorcycle manufacturer and has around 700 dealers across the world.
A radial whitewall version of Avon’s Cobra tyre is also OE fitment for Triumph’s Thunderbird LT.
More recently, Triumph unveiled its eagerly-anticipated high performance muscle roadster, the Rocket 3.
Available in two models, the R and GT, the Rocket 3 boasts a world’s largest production motorcycle engine capacity of 2500cc, which delivers the highest torque of any production motorbike and unparalleled acceleration, while offering a beautifully smooth, responsive and incredibly refined ride.
Avon contributed to the end result by developing a new Cobra Chrome tyre especially for the Rocket 3 line-up. Imposing tyre sizes of 150/80 ZR17 at the front and 240/50 ZR16 at the rear add to the roadster’s distinctive muscular presence.
Avon’s Cobra Chrome tyre features exquisite details. Consistent with its name, the edge of the tread is reminiscent of snake skin, and a raised logo in the form of a Cobra head further enhances its aesthetics. Meanwhile, the new tread pattern on the front and rear has been developed for exceptional grip and incredible mileage.
