More impressive race performances for Avon in Manx GP
MELKSHAM, UK, 5th September, 2018 – A week after dominating the Isle of Man Classic TT, Avon Tyres scored another impressive pair of podium finishes in the Manx GP races on the same iconic track.
Yamaha rider Gary Vines finished in a brilliant second place in the Lightweight race on Friday 31 Aug, the nimble nature of his 250cc 2-stroke machine making it possible to challenge the much more powerful 650cc 4-strole bikes around him.
The only non-Kawasaki in the top six, Vines – racing for the excellently named Wobbly Bob Racing team – rode on Avon’s slick race rubber and finished just six seconds off race-winner, Andrew Farrell.
Meanwhile, in the Ultra Lightweight race on Wednesday 29 Aug, CSC Racing rider Alex Sinclair came home third, using Avon Xtreme tyres on his Yamaha.
Avon Motorcycle Tyres’ motorsport sales manager, Steve Smith, said: “After our tyres were on the top 14 and 15 bikes in the Senior and Junior races in the Classic TT, it was great to finish off the Manx GP with another pair of prestigious finishes.”
Avon’s acclaimed bike tyres will be back in track action this coming weekend at the Goodwood Revival (Sept 7-9).
