Motorsport tyres

Avon first became involved in motorsport tyres in the 1950’s, the highlight being winning the 1959 World Sports Car Championship with Aston Martin. As one of the leading suppliers to the motorsport industry we have built a reputation for technical excellence and our dedicated racing division – Avon Tyres Motorsport – supplies tyres to over 150 race championships around the world. These cover road legal trackday products, crossply and radial slicks and moulded wets suitable for many motorsport applications including saloon and single seater racing, hillclimb, rally and rallycross, ice racing, historic and motorcycle racing.

Before any tyre even makes it onto the drawing board, the first consideration is always its end use.

The answers to these questions determine the characteristics of our tyres. So every tyre range is different and every one must undergo specialised testing to ensure that it performs as well and for as long as you would expect.

Classic tyres

Avon offers road tyres that are specifically for classic and historical road use. Our classic tyres for elite marques are manufactured to meet modern day motoring needs with the ability to cruise quietly and comfortably.

Improved radial constructions have been used sympathetically to improve ride quality, steering and safety while maintaining the appropriate aesthetic for the period of the vehicles they are fitted to.

Our historic race tyres are hand made using similar processes as in period. Their dry performance is restricted to a similar level to that in period to avoid overloading components on classic vehicles.

Motorcycle tyres

Avon Tyres made its first motorcycle tyre in 1911 and has a rich heritage of Isle of Man TT victories on both two and three wheels as well as other motorcycling championships. Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Barry Sheene have used and won on Avon tyres. 

Avon motorcycle tyres contain a number of advanced technological features, which have been developed and tested over many years.  

Our range of motorcycle tyres covers hypersport, hypersport touring, adventure sport, custom/ touring/ cruiser and classic applications. We are proud to supply original equipment tyres to Triumph for their Thunderbird LT, Bonneville Bobber, Bobber Black and Bonneville Speedmaster models, as well as Royal Enfield motorcycles.
